The certification in aesthetic medicine program designed for physicians and dentists is offered by ABAMCS in a year long program. It is standardized and identical regardless of the training locations. Patient safety and well being is the foremost emphasis all throughout the program. Topics that ensure the right treatment and care of the patient is thoroughly tackled including anatomy, patient selection, complications, management and treatment of complications are rigorously covered. Minimum eligibility to participate in the program must be holding the title and education as a Medical Physician regardless of specialty, Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. Nurses are eligible to take The Fundamental and Advance Training.
The American Board of Aesthetic Medicine and Cosmetic Surgery issues certificates to physicians and dentists with passing scores on the written board examination. They must have completed Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3 aesthetic medicine training from ABAMCS to be able to take the exam regardless of any previous experience.
The Participants in the Program will take Step 1 and Step 2 initially. Step 1 and Step 2 can be taken consecutively. After a required six (6) months practicing period, the participants will qualify to take Step 3. Another six (6) months practicing period after taking Step 3 is compulsory to take the Exam. Another imperative requirement before participants can qualify for the Board Examination, is that they have to perform, document and submit one of each advance procedure in dermal filler injection, neuromodulator / botulinum toxin injection, and skin resurfacing (mid-depth resurfacing) procedure. Only after completion of the required trainings and after the successful passing of the board examination will participants be called Board Certified. Certified physicians and dentists can begin using the title of Diplomate of the American Board of Aesthetic Medicine and Cosmetic Surgery for this accomplishment
